With just one year of operation, HQ Seaweed has already exported 30 tons of Galician seaweed to France, Italy, and the Netherlands. The manager of this small company based in Vilaboa (Pontevedra), Sergio García, took advantage of yesterday’s event to establish business contacts with more importers from countries like Italy. “100% of our revenue so far comes from foreign markets,” explains García, who adds that their clients are companies in the food industry that use frozen seaweed supplied by HQ Seaweed as a base ingredient. The company has its own harvesting plan, collecting seaweed along the Galician coast, then freezing and shipping it to the destination country. As a competitive advantage, García highlights the low heavy metal content of this product compared to Asian alternatives.
